Sculptural and ornate, the cornicello is an Italian amulet featuring a twisted horn shape to protect against the curse of the evil eye and bad luck, as well as promote strength and fertility. Traditionally red and made out of coral, Emily Weld Collins has redesigned tradition, creating its own cornicello out of lapis. Lapis was used by the Egyptians and Babylonians for amulets to protect against the evil eye.
