Q&A With Kira, owner & designer of Owensavary
Tell us about yourself. Where are you from and where do you live now?
Half French, half English, I have lived in all four corners of the world since I was a child. Settled down in Paris about 10 years ago. I have always worked in fashion and design and my dream was to build something of my own. My greatest achievement however is without a doubt my two children who are now all grown up and abroad at uni !
What did you do before starting OwenSavary?
Moving around the globe for my husband's job was a challenge to build any sort of career but I always found jobs in fashion or design, mostly as a freelance.
Tell us about your brand. When did you launch? Where are you based? Why did you start it?
I couldn't find cuff bracelets which fit my wrist comfortably so I decided to design one. I partnered with a friend back when I was living in South Africa ten years ago. We chose to work with French craftsmen for their unrivaled expertise and sourced our leathers in Europe but we paid homage to South Africa, a land we both felt immense love for, by incorporating the Kudu horns in our logo. All our pieces are uniquely made in France and 100% customizable :)
Congratulations on launching your latest collection! What was your inspiration?
I designed a completely new bracelet and new clasp to add to the OwenSavary family. It is available for both women and men, and we named them Charlotte & Leo. This thin leather strap is once again adjustable to fit all wrist sizes, just like all our other bracelets. But instead of the iconic magnetic clasp, I designed a new fastening making the bracelet interchangeable and reversible. With the Charlotte & Leo you can change leather straps or clasp finish for a different look as often as you like!
